“By using the product, they were so excited and they learned so much...”–K-5 Librarian and Instructinal Technology Teacher
Recognizing the importance of wellness sometimes comes from seeing the long term impact of low levels. Have students create visuals of some long term impacts from low levels of wellness. This will reinforce the importance of balancing all aspects, and allow them to continue to reflect on their own wellness.
In this activity, students will continue to use the self reflection storyboard they created. However this time, they will illustrate the long term impacts from low levels of wellness. Students should reflect on what can happen if they neglect and do not boost the areas they identified as low. By completing this exercise, students will hopefully be motivated to focus on balancing each wellness level.

Start each day with a simple wellness check-in to help students monitor their feelings and energy levels. Daily check-ins build self-awareness and create a supportive classroom culture where students feel safe sharing and reflecting.
Demonstrate a short reflection about your own wellness using real-life examples. Modeling vulnerability encourages students to be honest and thoughtful about their own well-being.
Have students keep a personal wellness journal where they track moods, habits, and small wins each week. Consistent journaling helps students spot patterns and motivates them to improve their wellness habits.
Organize brief partner or group discussions where students share what helps them maintain balance. Learning from peers provides fresh ideas and normalizes conversations about wellness.
Recognize and celebrate students’ efforts to improve their wellness, whether through shout-outs, class charts, or small rewards. Positive reinforcement boosts motivation and shows that wellness growth matters.
Low levels of wellness over time can lead to problems such as increased stress, poor academic performance, low energy, and difficulties in relationships. Addressing wellness early helps prevent these negative outcomes.
Students can create a storyboard or visual chart showing what might happen if certain wellness areas are neglected. This makes the consequences more real and helps students reflect on their own habits.
Self-reflection helps students identify which areas of wellness need attention and motivates them to make positive changes, reinforcing lifelong healthy habits.
Activities like creating a personal wellness pie chart, journaling about feelings, or discussing wellness scenarios in groups can engage students in learning about health and balance.
Ask students to reflect on their wellness levels, pinpoint areas they feel are low, and brainstorm ways to improve them. Visual aids and sentence prompts make this process accessible for all learners.
