Inimesed elasid Põhja-Ameerikas tuhandeid aastaid enne Euroopa kolonisaatorite saabumist. Esimeste ameeriklaste rändeteed 13 000 aastat tagasi viisid nad erinevatesse keskkondadesse, mis omakorda mõjutas tuhandeid erinevaid väljakujunenud kultuure ja keeli.
