Activity Overview

Many students go trick-or-treating, and it is always a good idea to remind them about safe practices. Have your students come up with safety tips as a class, or provide them with a list, and let students create scenes that shows these safe practices in action.

In addition to the safety tips in the example storyboard, there are also many other things that parents and kids should keep in mind.

Be Safe on Halloween

  • Costume accessories (such as swords or knives) should be flexible and/or soft
  • WALK, do not run, when going from house to house
  • Check makeup and hair dyes on a small area first, to avoid irritation or issues with removal
  • Wear costumes and shoes that fit well to avoid tripping, blistering, and falling
  • Make sure costumes do not impair vision
  • Wear fire resistant costumes and be careful around jack-o-lanterns and open flames
  • Enter homes only with a trusted adult
  • Limit the number of treats you eat each day
