De Ladder of Inference is ontworpen door Chris Argyris, een leider in organisatorisch leren. Het leerconcept gaat over het denkproces, over redenering. Wees bewust van waar je op de ladder bent - het is het beste om te te snel te hoog te voorkomen. Dit hulpmiddel is ook nuttig voor conflictoplossing en het maken van teambeslissingen: kom tot conclusies en voer acties uit op basis van geluidsbeoordelingen en feiten.
